Since it's been almost 2 years since the last major hail event, the hungry door-to-door roofing canvassers are swarming the few Colorado Springs neighborhoods which have been affected by the recent storms. We're hearing that some homeowners are getting 7 to 8 roofers a day at their door.
With Colorado Springs being bombarded with 3 hailstorms so far in May, 2018, this means that there may be a flood of dishonest roofers knocking on doors in the neighborhoods which got hit the hardest, trying to take advantage of the situation and maybe take off with your insurance money and leave you with a damaged roof that still needs replacing.
Did you know that the Colorado State Attorney General and Department of Regulatory Agency, as well as several county sheriff's departments all warn Coloradans not to let anyone in or on your house if that person has come knocking on your door.
This only makes sense when you consider that the "door-knockers" are oftentimes fly-by-night companies that have blown into town with the storm. They don't have any local contacts who would refer business to them so the best and fastest way for them to get your business and your money is to canvass the neighborhoods, knocking on doors and offering a "free" roof inspection.
Remember, not every roofer who knocks on your door will rip you off, but every roofer who will rip you off will knock on your door.
