Question 7: My Roof Failed The County Inspection. What Do I Do?

Recently Pikes Peak Regional Building Department, in El Paso County, has stated that they have made some changes to the code requirements for re-roofs. Since they have been so backed up on their inspections, there are thousands of roofs that were completed before their code requirement changes that were installed per the previous requirements, but which do not meet their current codes. As of this writing, we’re trying to get some definitive details from PPRBD about what the new requirements are. You can read about it here:

If your roof has failed the county inspection, it could be because of the newly enforced requirements which have been put in place subsequent to when your roof was completed. If that’s the case, we’ll address the situation with PPRBD. In most cases, they will grandfather the roof installation and pass your inspection without returning the property. If there’s something that needs to be done to the roof, we’ll let you know and will do the necessary work to make it pass the inspection.
